Health disclaimer

Earbunny helps you notice listening and posture habits. It does not diagnose, prevent or treat anything. Please read what its numbers can and cannot tell you.

  1. 1Awareness, not a medical device

    Earbunny is a wellness and habit app. It is not a medical device under the EU Medical Device Regulation, US FDA rules or similar laws anywhere. It does not diagnose, prevent, monitor a disease or treat any condition, and it does not replace advice from a doctor, audiologist or physiotherapist.

  2. 2Measured and estimated levels

    Every headphone level in Earbunny is labelled:

    • Measured: taken from the headphone audio levels that Apple Health records for supported headphones, when you allow access.
    • Estimated: calculated from the volume setting and the headphone model when no measurement is available.

    Both can differ from what actually reaches your ears. Fit, ear tips, noise cancellation, transparency mode, the content being played, unsupported or third-party headphones and device settings all change the real level. Estimates are less precise than measurements. Use the numbers as a guide to habits, not as exact values.

  3. 3Sound dose and safe-listening guidance

    The weekly sound dose compares how loud and how long you listened with a weekly safe-listening allowance based on the World Health Organization (WHO) and International Telecommunication Union (ITU) global standard for safe listening devices, ITU-T H.870. Staying within the allowance lowers the risk of hearing damage from listening, but it is not a guarantee, and going over it does not mean that damage has happened. People differ, and other noise in your day (concerts, traffic, tools) also counts.

  4. 4The hearing game is not a hearing test

    The hearing game is for fun and curiosity. Its results depend on your headphones, the room and how you play. It cannot tell whether your hearing is normal and is not a screening or diagnostic test. Only a qualified professional can test your hearing.

  5. 5Posture is not physiotherapy

    Earbunny estimates head posture from the motion sensors of compatible earbuds during sessions such as study, reading or gaming, and shows simple states like “upright” or “slumped”. It does not measure your spine, does not detect conditions and is not a treatment or exercise programme. Reminders to sit up are suggestions; stop if anything hurts.

  6. 6When to see a professional

    Please see a doctor or audiologist if you or your child notice:

    • ringing, buzzing or hissing in the ears that does not go away, or that keeps coming back;
    • muffled hearing, or finding it harder to follow conversations;
    • ear pain, discharge, a feeling of fullness or dizziness;
    • neck, back or head pain that lasts, or numbness or tingling in the arms.

    Sudden hearing loss in one or both ears is urgent: seek medical help the same day.

  7. 7Emergencies

    Earbunny is not an emergency or safety service. Alerts can be late or missing, and drop or left-behind alerts are about earbuds, not about people. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.
